2009 YEAR IN REVIEW

From the AFRO's perspective, 2009 had everything.
Controversy, people behaving badly, things going well, history being made ... you name it, it happened in 2009.

As probably predicted in 2008, the year started with a focus on all things Obama – his recent election, the plans to move his family, security concerns, where he would go to church and of course, the inauguration.

Injected amidst that news was the scandal surrounding how Roland Burris was appointed to the president-elect's former Senate seat by then Gov. Rod Blagojevich, charged, at the time of the appointment, with attempting to sell the seat to the highest bidder.
