It's Official: Shakoor ll in mayoral race


Q.A. Shakoor II drives home a point at public meeting

Alderman and County Board Supervisor Q. A. Shakoor II, announced in a press release to the Insider News that he is the newest candidate seeking the office of mayor of Racine. In one line he said, “It is my intent to run for the office of Mayor for the wonderful city of Racine Wisconsin.”

Shakoor ll, 55, is a lifetime resident of Racine and has been committed to serving our community.

He lists his experiences serving as an elected official; 12 years experience as a Racine County Board Supervisor, and four (4) years as an Alderman of the city of Racine. Currently he serves in both capacities. Committee assignments: Finance & Human Resources, Economic Development & Land Use, CDBG, Public Safety & Licensing - Chairman, Executive Committee, and Sustainable Neighborhood Listening Committee.
He continues to volunteer working with Neighborhood Associations on many occasions.

He still serves as Chairman & Charter Representative for Boy Scout Troop & Pack 181, of Wayman AME Church, which he helped to organize over 10 years ago.
Shakoor is employed by Twin Disc Incorporated for 36 years, currently working as the Small Business Liaison Officer and Buyer.

“I will continue to serve to the best of my ability and encourage citizen involvement so together we can have a brighter, safer, future,” he added in the release.
