Black History program features local graduate

On the walls of many central city homes you will find a picture of Jesus Christ, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and the award that many youth have received at one time or another from the Black History Youth Achievement Award Committee. Donnie Snow, one of the original organizers for the annual program, said that not only does the winner hang the awards in their homes, they use the awards on their resumes when applying for college or a job.

The keynote speaker, Qadira Oliver, the Corporate Relations Director for the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, is featured in this video. Her powerful message of "Don't Give Up" is one that all inner-city students should be able to hear.
