VIDEO: New Life Christian Fellowship, 1710 Douglas Avenue, was granted a conditional use permit tonight and will not be forced to relocate, thanks to City Council action Tuesday night. The City Planning Commission recommended that the church be denied a permit because the commissioners in a vote 3-2 felt the storefront church contradicts the Douglas Avenue redevelopment plan.
In a packed council chamber, Alderman Greg Helding, a member of the Commission, flip-flopped after about a dozen individuals spoke, demanding the Aldermen to listen and support the church remaining at their new location.
